Chinese restaurant serves food laced with drugs
A noodle vendor in China’s north west region of Shaanxi has admitted to serving food that contained powdered poppy plant – a substance used to make the drug opium. Police have detained the vendor owner for a minimum of ten days. The owner of the food outlet says he used poppy plant in his dishes to make them addictive and keep his customers coming back.
Body of missing six-year-old found in Japan
A man has been arrested after the body of missing six-year-old Mirei Ikuta was found dismembered in several plastic bags. Police discovered the remains near the girl’s home in Kobe City. Police arrested 47-year-old Yasuhiro Kimino after his hospital ID card was found in one of the plastic bags on Wednesday. A DNA test confirmed the body parts in the plastic bag belonged to Ikuta, who had been missing since September 11.
Afghan soldiers go missing after visiting a strip club
The three Afghan National Army soldiers who disappeared after attending a strip club on Saturday have turned up in custody of Canadian border guards. The owner of the strip club in Mashpee Massachusetts, told police they believe the men were at the club the night before their disappearance. The men have been charged with immigration violations. – Daniel Stringer
