The film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey that made women’s hormones rage, has been released in cinemas just in time for Valentine’s Day. Early reviews of the film, one of the most anticipated of 2015, may disappoint fans of the novel. Lisa Wilkinson didn’t hide her disappointment in the movie on Twitter and The Today Show. It was the “worst movie I’ve ever seen”, she wrote. Ouch.
The Grammys aired this week, reaching almost 30 million people. The spotlight was on Sam Smith who took out four awards including Record of the Year and artist Beck who beat favourite Beyonce for Album of the Year. Social media went into a frenzy when Kanye West interrupted Beck’s award. He seemed to intend repeating his 2009 hijacking of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech but then backed away.
A shooting in North Carolina sparked more than 1.3 million tweets. The hashtags #ChapelHillShooting and #MuslimLivesMatter highlighted popular anger about the low-key reporting of an apparent racial murder by mainstream American news organisations. A muslim man, his wife and her sister were shot dead on Tuesday by Stephen Hicks. The 46-year-old was charged with three counts of murder. He had recently posted photos of a gun and anti-religious messages on Facebook.

Video of an Italian grandma being showed how to talk to Siri by her grandson has attracted 4.5 million views on Facebook. Her accent is the problem. Check it out.
Hot mug shot guy goes to prison for 2 years
Jeremy Meeks, known as hot mug shot guy, had to put his modelling career on hold when he was sentenced to 27 months in jail. Meeks was also ordered to pay a $US100 fine but could not afford it.
