The Ultimate Warrior, born James Hellwig, has passed away at age 54.
Just days after being inducted into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame, it was reported that the Ultimate Warrior was walking from a hotel to his car with his wife. He suddenly collapsed and was immediately transported to a hospital where he was announced dead.
The news broke when WWE COO, Triple H tweeted “Saddened to announce the passing of the Ultimate Warrior. Icon and friend. My sympathy to his wife Dana and his daughters”.
The Ultimate Warrior was inducted into the Hall of Fame the night before Wrestlemania 30 (Saturday April 5 2014) and then appeared on Monday Night Raw.
In a wrestling-style promo, Warrior made his first appearance on WWE television in 18 years. What will be remembered, however, are the words that foreshadowed his unfortunate passing.
“Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something larger than life then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalised,” he said.
