Internet trolls lit up Twitter with white genocide and racist jokes based on the newly released Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.
The hashtag #BoycottStarWarsVII circulated Twitter yesterday started by trolls over John Boyega, who plays Finn in the upcoming movie due to be released worldwide on December 17.
Trolls from 4chan fuelled the dark side with one user posting on Twitter; “We did it Again (sic) #4chan… We made a racial issue out of thin air!!”
Defenders of the “anti-white” topic have guarded the Star Wars franchise on the hashtag feed.
“are (sic) you sure you were watching the right movies?!”
“Waiting for the “I’m not racist. I have a black friend””
A meme has also been circulating on the site in regards to Darth Vader’s voice actor, James Earl Jones, saying; “the most iconic character in the series had a black guy’s voice.”
The worldwide advanced movie ticket release for the seventh instalment opened yesterday at 8am. IMAX theatre at Darling Harbour experienced a website crash almost immediately after the tickets became available online due to an unexpected high demand.
Midnight screenings at the IMAX and EVENTS cinema in George Street have sold out. A couple of other Gold Class showings after the midnight screening have also been booked.
