Pop-star Rihanna is set to open serious talks with English Premier League giants Liverpool about the purchase of the club.
Spanish source El Mundo Deportivo are claiming that Liverpool is the team of choice for the pop starlet. The report also suggests that prolific Chelsea striker and close friend Didier Drogba has encouraged the pop-queen to make the move.
Liverpool were bought by John Henry’s Fenway Sports Group in 2010 and it is unlikely the group would sell given the progress that has been made in recent years.
Rihanna’s new found love for football came about at the World Cup in Brazil; the mega-star was in attendance for the final between Germany and Argentina.
If a sale was to go-ahead, Rihanna would join other celebrities who have ownership in major sporting clubs, like Russell Crowe who owns the South Sydney Rabbitohs, or fellow song-writer Jay-Z, who formerly owned a portion of the Brooklyn Nets from the NBA.
