Speculation over meteor
The fireball that lit up the night skies of south-eastern Australia is believed to have been space junk. Observers initially thought the streak of light was a meteor but astronomers say the object was most likely Russian rocket debris.
Five-year-old washed off Central Coast beach
The search for a 5-year-old boy swept into the ocean off Pearl Beach resumed this morning. Police have confirmed that the search is now a recovery operation. The incident occurred at 2pm yesterday. It is believed the boy was on holidays with his family and was playing with siblings in the water when he was washed out to sea.
Clive Palmer walks out of interview
Clive Palmer put an abrupt halt to an interview with the ABC’s 7.30 television program last night when he was questioned about the legal battle with a Chinese business partner. “Don’t talk to me about allegations and bullshit,” he said to host Sarah Ferguson when questioned on the issue.
Removing traffic lanes as part of WestConnex project
The state motoring lobby is against permanently removing traffic lanes from Parramatta Road to make way for a public transport corridor if a motorway is built underneath. NRMA said all traffic lanes would need to remain open in case an accident occurs in the underground motorway.
Urban hologram thrills shoppers
A Keith Urban interactive hologram was launched by ANZ bank at Pitt Street Mall on Thursday. The Australian-first hologram has the ability to interact with fans and volunteers who can play alongside Urban using guitar, drums, harmonica or a tambourine.
