Hawks defeat young Blues side
A solid start by the reigning champions helped them to a 21-point win over Carlton in the opening AFL pre-season warm-up match in Launceston on Thursday night. Experienced Hawks Sam Mitchell, Grant Birchall and Jordan Lewis controlled the ball through half-back and midfield racking up 80 disposals between them. Blues supporters will be happy with their ex-Crow recruit Sam Kerridge who was best on ground for Carlton, tallying 28 touches and eight tackles.

Parker returns to overpower Port
Swans midfielder Luke Parker returned from an extended injury to feature in his side’s 21-point win over Port Adelaide. Parker, the 2014 club champion, suffered a broken ankle in round 20 last season and missed the Swan’s finals series but was running well against Port to record 32 disposals. The Power outfit featured key players captain Travis Boak, Chad Wingard and Ollie Wines but failed to overcome the Swans on a rainy evening in Blacktown.
