CCTV footage showing a monkey stealing 10,000 rupees from a jewellery shop in India is making waves on social media.
A piece of fruit was thrown into the shop by the monkey, which it then ran in to fetch.
“We threw the fruit back but it entered the shop anyway,” the shop owner told The Asian News International (AIN).
“It sat for almost 20 minutes in the store and then it opened the drawer in the cash counter and took away Rs. 10,000 cash.”
The shop owner tried to recover the money from the monkey, but it had fled the shop before the money could be retrieved.
This is not an isolated event. Other monkey ‘thefts’ have occurred, mainly from people in marketplaces and temples, ANI also reports.
