More than 20,000 participants were splashed in colour and had plenty of fun in Melbourne’s third annual Colour Run today.
South-east Melbourne resident, Sara McKenzie told The Newsroom she has never had more fun at an event.
‘’I go almost every year that I can afford it and it makes me so happy,‘’ Ms McKenzie said.
The unique paint race runs nationally each year seeing participants doused in coloured powder from head to toe at each kilometre.
The event rules require runners to wear white before beginning, and end up as colourful as humanly possible at the finish line, where a massive dance party awaits them,
‘’I love the fact that you can have fun with your mates and still do something good for yourself, while giving something back,’’ Ms McKenzie said.
The event is run by a for-profit event management company, Shine Tour which partnered with charities around Australia, to create a platform to advertise the work they do.
The events have been running since 2012 and The Colour Run in Australia has donated more than $1.5 million to 50 different charities around Australia. – Zena Chamas
