Your morning coffee is pretty important. If it’s bad, your day is basically ruined. If it’s good, you’re ready to face the world.
What’s it all about?
Brunetti in Melbourne will have you not only ready to face the day, but smiling for the rest of it.
After two years of waiting to enter the doors of Brunetti once again, I finally went to 380 Lygon St and got my fix. It had been renovated and moved location since last time I was there, but it was everything I remember and more.
Walking through the golden doors is like entering the gates to heaven. There are about five different counters – one catering to each individual’s alternative needs. You have; the counter where you order, the pastry counter, the savoury counter, the drinks bar and the gelato bar.
The good bits
I’ve been to various coffee shops and restaurants in Sydney and for some unknown reason, they just cannot compare to Brunetti’s coffee or arancini (big Italian rice balls with a variety of fillings).
I received my soy flat white $4.40 and with great anticipation. I took the first sip of my perfect combination of coffee, milk and sugar and I fell in love all over again. As you can probably see, coffee is a very important aspect of my life.
Next came the food. We ordered arancini al ragu, and arancini with pumpkin, spinach and ricotta, both costing $3.90 each. From the first bite to the very unfortunate last, they were amazing!
The bad bits
I’ll keep this short and sweet. The arancini had down sized since last time I was there and there was no longer the option to have them with sauce, which was disappointing, but not detrimental for my experience.
