Singer Charlotte Church went on a Twitter rampage after Nigel Farage quit as the leader of UK Independence Party (UKIP).
The former child songstress posted the tweet (pictured below) just hours after Mr Farage announced his resignation from UKIP after eight years of leading the party. The decision has been met with high criticism with Mr Farage being one of the key advocates for Brexit.
“I want my life back, and it begins right now,” said Mr Farage when announcing his step down. He also stated that his political ambitions had been reached with the UK having voted out of the European Union.
Church’s tweet has been re-tweeted over 6,000 times by fellow Remain voters who share her take on events.
However, Church has also been met with huge backlash. Twitter users like @Flanker450, who said it “Appears to be the wrong time of the month for someone!!!!”, have been abusing the mother-of-two online.
“A lot of hate on here today. I understand that this is a very divisive time but I’m shocked at the level of and type of abuse I’ve had today,” said Church in response to the online hate she has received from her initial tweet. – Jessica Holmes
