The US basketball season has started with a bang as Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans stole the round with a 50-point performance.
Davis became one of just four NBA players who have managed to accomplish the historic feat in the first round, following Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor.
Playing against the Denver Nuggets, Davis racked up 16 rebounds, seven steals, five assists and four blocked shots in just 41 minutes, but was unable to prevent his side going down narrowly, 107-102.
It was a special individual moment for Davis who spent most of the last season on the sidelines with injuries, including missing his chance to take gold at this year’s Rio Olympics.
