The Newsroom previews round seven of the A-League season.
Western Sydney Wanderers v Melbourne City
The Wanderers take on Melbourne City at Spotless Stadium to kick-off round seven of the A-League. With both teams on two different ends on the ladder, the match will definitely be overshadowed by the return of Tim Cahill to Sydney as he plays his first league match in Sydney for almost two decades. The Wanderers will have to be on form against John Van’t Schip’s side as they’ll be looking to climb back up the ladder after last week’s 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Melbourne Victory. Melbourne City, on the other hand, will be hoping to take the victory in Sydney as they look to take the title fight to Sydney FC because they sit comfortably six points clear at the top of the table.
Newcastle Jets v Central Coast Mariners
The first F3 derby of the season commences on Sunday afternoon as the Central Coast Mariners travel to Newcastle for the clash. The Jets will be hoping to get their season back on track as they’ve lost their last three games and have slipped to eighth on the ladder. The Mariners will be hoping to get their winning ways back after they went down 2-0 to Wellington Phoenix in Canberra last week. – Ben Owusu
