The Newsroom previews round six of the A-League season.
Melbourne Victory v Western Sydney Wanderers
Melbourne Victory take on the Western Sydney Wanderers in Melbourne this Saturday night. Kevin Muscat’s men struggled to hold on to a one-goal lead last week which allowed Sydney FC to salvage a 2-1 win and take them five points clear at the top the table. The Wanderers haven’t tasted victory in their last three games. Tony Popovic’s men have only beaten Victory once in their last seven meetings so tomorrow will need to be an improved performance.
Sydney FC v Perth Glory
Sydney FC will continue their impressive undefeated run on Sunday as they face Perth Glory at Allianz Stadium. The sky blue’s had to come from behind to salvage a 2-1 win and stay well clear at the top of the table. Graham Arnold’s men have five successive A-League wins and nine in all competitions, only conceding one goal. Despite holding the Wanderers to a 2-2 draw, Kenny Lowe’s men have the tendency to score goals from set-pieces, an area Sydney FC can defend from very well. A win for the Glory will see them move up to third on the table. – Ben Owusu
