The Super League have announced the six teams that will feature in the newly expanded World Club Series in 2015.
Three teams from the NRL and three from the Super League will play matches over three days from February 20-22, 2015. NRL premiers South Sydney Rabbitohs alongside Brisbane Broncos and St George Illawarra will battle it out against Super League grand finalists St Helens Saints and Wigan Warriors, as well as the Warrington Wolves.
The first match will be contested between Warrington and the Dragons on February 20, 2015. With the Super League final to be played this weekend, the runner-ups will host Brisbane on February 21, 2015, with the Rabbitohs and Super League champions doing battle on February 22, 2015.
Super League general manager Blake Solly said, “I am delighted that we are able to host three clubs of the stature of South Sydney, Brisbane Broncos and St George Illawarra in the inaugural World Club Series next year.”
NRL head of football Todd Greenberg said the new format would add interest to the World Club Challenge.
“Fans already love seeing the best from Australia play the best from Britain, but this tournament will showcase three of the top clubs in the NRL.” he said
