A Manly Sea Eagle has sold his 2011 Premiership ring worth $6000 for a weak $2300
An NRL investigation is under way after a member of the Manly Sea Eagles team has sold their 2011 Premiership ring to a tattoo artist. The rings are made by a jeweller called Allan Zreik, who claims the rings are worth $6000.
Rumours are flying that ex player Anthony Watmough is the main suspect. In retaliation to these accusations, Watmough uploaded a photo on Instagram of the 2011 team with his two premiership rings sitting over his body.
Toowoomba tattooist Danny Wighton was the lucky fan to buy the ring for the bargain price of $2300.
Zreik was confused and astounded that someone had sold the ring at all, let alone for a small margin of the original price.
“I would’ve expected the first one ever sold to go for so much higher,’’ he said.
Wighton received the ring on Monday after it was delivered by Australia Post. The investigation has now focused on who sold the ring on eBay. – Ashley Kearney
