The Newsroom tells you what’s hot on the internet – from Trump’s balls to the tragic departure of The Bachelor’s favourite contestant…
#WorldPhotoDay
August 19 was designated World Photo Day because that’s the day, back in 1839, when the French government purchased the patent rights to the first viable photographic system, invented by Louis Daguerre. France then donated the Daguerreotype process as a “gift to the free world”.
According to Facebook, people started to acknowledge World Photo Day back in 2010, as Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter made photos part of our daily life. I expect you all to be happy snapping and hash-tagging today!
#Omran
Last night I saw this video in my feed and it was impossible to ignore. The video, shared by US CNN reporter, Kate Bolduan, was going viral. The reporter was brought to tears as she told the story of Omran Daqneesh, a five-year-old Syrian boy, who was pulled from the rubble of his home after an air strike in Aleppo. He was left sitting alone in an ambulance while rescuers went to see if they could find his family and the rest of his community.
Good news today. Omran, whose bloodied face became the symbol of suffering in Aleppo, was reunited with his family. Like Kate said, I just want you to know about this story.
#Trump
With the election coming up in only a couple of months, Trump is pretty much breaking the internet harder than Kim Kardashian and her nude selfie.
The activist group, INDECLINE, has put up life-sized statues across New York City of the political candidate, Donald Trump… butt-naked.
And quite notably with rather small, if non-existent privates. Titled “The Emporer has no Balls”, perhaps they are having a dig at his promise to make America great again?
The NYC Parks Department have already started the removal of the statues but not before releasing a rather witty comment first.

#TheBachelor
It seems Richie Rich is on a mission since the shock departure of Megan. He has let Kiera go!
Yes, you heard right. The woman who set herself apart from every other girl on the show. The woman who treated the competition exactly like that, a competition, making headlines week after week for her comments and shade casting.
Whether you loved her or hated her, I think we all knew it wasn’t really going to work out.
However, Richie gave it a go and has now unleashed her on the rest of the world. He thinks they were just on completely different paths in life. Yep, we think you were right, Richie. As did most of your viewers.
Richie had a tough decision to make… 💔 #TheBachelorAU https://t.co/ghbEhA1t9t

#BladeRunner
After doing an amazing job as the Joker in Suicide Squad, which was released last week, it has now been announced that Jared Leto will star in the new Blade Runner sequel!
This news is giving me flashbacks to my high school days where I studied the popular 1982 sci-fi film for my HSC.
We don’t have a ton of info yet, however we do know the cast will include a rather long line of stars including Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas and Sylvia Hoeks.

I will see you all in a couple of weeks, please don’t get up to too much mischief without me. I will be back after the college semester break with all the latest social media goss – Kezia Dawn
