Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was in Sydney this week promoting his new movie Hercules. While he was down under, former NRL star Beau Ryan managed to score an interview with the self-titled “People’s Champ”. The entertaining interview was shown on The Footy Show on Thursday night.
Australian phenom has found some Jazz
Aussie born Dante Exum has been selected by the Utah Jazz with the fifth pick in the NBA draft. He is the third Australian-born player to be selected in the top five since 2005. Dante joins a young and scary roster at the Jazz and will play alongside youngster Trey Burke.
Waratahs and Brumbies preparing for a classic showdown
With three weeks left until the finals, Saturday night’s showdown between the NSW Waratahs and the ACT Brumbies is shaping up to be a classic. The winner of the match will hold the number one spot and will be in a great position to get to the top of the ladder before the finals start.
Serena Williams dominates competition at Wimbledon
Serena Williams soundly defeated South African Chanelle Scheepers 6-1 6-1 in their second round match at Wimbledon this week. The match lasted a total of 49 minutes – the average length of a Game of Thrones episode. One of the main reasons Serena dominated was a massive point discrepancy of 26-52.
Gold Coast Titans star Ashley Harrison retires early
After injuring his neck in round nine of the NRL season, NRL star Ashley Harrison has been forced to retire by doctors. “At this stage of my career, I would be foolish to jeopardise my long term health.” Harrison played 15 origin games for the Queensland Maroons and 276 total games over his 14 year career and was scheduled to finish off this season as his last. – Compiled by Lachlan Brunton
