Future Music Festival first line-up announced
Rapper and singer Drake has been announced as the headlining act for next year’s Future Music Festival, which kicks off in Sydney on February 28. He will perform alongside Avicii, Afrojack and The Prodigy at venues in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, wrapping up in Adelaide on March 9. This will be Drake’s first time to Australia.
RIP Oscar de la Renta
Legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has died at the age of 82. A family member confirmed the death on Monday. He is most recently known for designing Amal Alamuddin’s dress for her wedding to actor George Clooney. In 2006 de la Renta was diagnosed with cancer. He is survived by his wife Annette de la Renta and adopted son Moises.
Don’t stop movin’ to the S Club beat
There were rumours back in August that S Club 7 were coming together for a reunion tour. Good news for fans, it has finally been confirmed. The band will reunite for a charity event called Children in Need on November 14. According the BBC, they will be performing a collection of their greatest hits and may perform a brand new single.
Another new 2DayFM breakfast show
The 2DayFM breakfast show hasn’t been receiving the best ratings since Kyle and Jackie O moved to KIIS FM. Now there are rumours that Dan Debuf and Maz Compton from The Dan and Maz show are going to replace Jules, Merrick & Sophie for the breakfast slot, and Hamish and Andy are going to move to the drive shift. Southern Cross Austereo hasn’t yet confirmed the report.
Another crazy Mark Holden stunt
After another eye-catching performance on Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night, Mark Holden has finally been booted off the show. Holden performed with his shirt off, and even had his mouth taped shut when receiving the judges’ scores.
2014 Aria Awards performers announced
Justice Crew, Hilltop Hoods, Chet Faker and Sheppard will perform at the Aria Awards on November 26. Today’s announcement follows the news that 5 Seconds of Summer will also appear. The popular boy band from Western Sydney are also set to take the stage at this year’s American Music Awards in LA. Nominations for the Aria’s Song Of The Year and Best Group have also been released, revealing Hilltop Hoods, Sheppard and 5SOS will go head to head in the category. Public tickets for the award show have already sold out but people can cast their vote on the ARIA website. More 2014 Aria performers are set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The Avengers are back!
The Avengers 2 trailer was leaked online yesterday, but was pulled down immediately. Marvel Entertainment realised hardcore fans had already viewed it and they couldn’t do anything about it, so they tweeted the teaser trailer themselves. The trailer shows Tony Stark in new Hulkbuster Iron Man armour, fighting the Hulk. – Lauren Yeates
