Popular Thai seaside resort, Hua Hin, was targeted in twin bombings on Thursday that killed a local woman and injured at least ten others.
Police said the blasts were detonated 20 minutes apart by mobile phones and at least one of the bombs was hidden in a pot plant. Reports say the woman who was killed was running a food stall out the front of the hotel. Lt. Col. Samer Yousamran, Hua Hin’s police chief, said the blasts were “in an area where there are many travellers.”
The bombs exploded when people were about to leave bars and restaurants at around 10 pm local time. Five foreigners are reported to have been injured.
The attack is the worst bombing in Thailand since 2015, when an explosion killed 20 people. Thai officials have said no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks. – Samantha Besgrove.
