The Newsroom previews the first post-Origin round, in which Manly will be looking to snap a losing streak and six disgruntled Blues losers will be trying to redeem themselves in a top-of-the-ladder clash.
Canberra Raiders v Manly Sea Eagles
The Raiders battle the Sea Eagles at GIO Stadium in Canberra tonight. The Raiders are coming off two consecutive victories while Manly are looking for their first win since round 8. For Manly, Jamie Lyon has scored seven tries in his last five matches against the Raiders and will start at five-eighth. Dylan Walker will back up for the Sea Eagles after his short stint for NSW in Origin. Josh Papalii is an unlikely starter for the Raiders; recruit Junior Paulo is expected to make up the 17.
Melbourne Storm v Penrith Panthers
The Storm take on the Panthers at AAMI Park in Melbourne on Saturday night. Cooper Cronk is expected to return while Storm skipper Cameron Smith is also a likely starter after his historic 37th Origin match. NSW Blues debutants Matt Moylan and Josh Mansour will take the field for Penrith, who are looking to consolidate a position in the top 8. History shows the Storm have a 77 per cent success rate over the Panthers.
Canterbury Bulldogs v Cronulla Sharks
The Bulldogs, fifth on the ladder, face the Sharks, who are on top, at ANZ Stadium on Monday night. Will Hopoate will make his return for the Dogs at fullback after he sat out three Sunday games for religious reasons, with Tyrone Phillips and Reimis Smith going back to the NSW Cup. The Dogs will have David Klemmer, Josh Morris and Josh Jackson backing up from their Origin duties. Andrew Fifita, skipper Paul Gallen and James Maloney (who had an impressive first run in the Origin), will be backing up for the Sharks. – Jesse Mullens.
