The Nokia phone has officially become a thing of the past after Microsoft paid $US7.2 billion for all its devices.
Starting today, Nokia’s phone and tablet business devices will fall under Microsoft’s Devices Group.
The announcement was accompanied by plans to terminate 18,000 Microsoft employees.
Nokia France posted on its official Facebook page, “In the coming days, you will receive a message about the renaming of this page. We are about to become Microsoft Lumia.”
People took to Twitter to reminisce about the 27-year-old former household name.
