Nate Adams has decided to rule himself out of competing in the summer X Games in Austin.
Adams crashed about a month ago in practice and told ESPN “I had a little crash and hit my head pretty good.”
He didn’t think much of it at the time but when he got back on and tried to ride, he crashed again, hitting his head in exactly the same spot, he said. “[and] that was it.”
Over the next month, Adams failed four concussion tests, his reaction time and hand-eye coordination being well down.
Adams had competed in the summer X games since 2001 when he was 17. He was expected to compete in moto x freestyle and moto x speed and style; Libor Podmol and Kris Foster will take his place in the competition.
Traditionally, the X Games take place in Los Angeles. This is the first change in location since 2003. The X Games Austin are being shown on ESPN from June 5 to 8. – Ashley Kearney
