White Ribbon Australia is calling for men to pledge an oath this Friday to protect the women in their lives.
The oath can be taken on the White Ribbon Australia website or at a number of events being held across the country.
About 195,000 Australian men have already taken the oath for their partner, boss, neighbour, friend or colleague.
White Ribbon Day is held each year on November 25 to raise awareness and funds to support women who have suffered domestic violence.
One in three women in Australia are physically abused by someone they know, according to an ABS report in 2013.
More than 500 events will be held around the nation this week to raise awareness and money for the charity.
One popular event is the Sydney White Ribbon Walk hosted by Randwick City Council on Friday along the Coogee coastline, starting at Coogee Bay Road and ending at Grant Reserve at South Coogee. The walk will be followed by an oath ceremony.
Other events include a NSW Police-run awareness day at Customs House Circular Quay, Westpac breakfast event at Barangaroo and Stand up, Sing Out Sydney! in Darlinghurst. – Nikolina Matijevic
