Look pretty on a budget.
What is it?
A lip gloss, that is affordable… and looks and feels great because as students, we don’t always have the cash to splurge on $50 lip gloss. Luckily, Essence have come out with a gloss for $3.95. And no, it doesn’t involve cheap ingredients and weird formulas. Surprisingly, this product actually performs better than the luxury brands in department stores.
First impressions: Woah, that is one weird looking applicator! This lip gloss doesn’t come with your standard rectangular (doe foot) applicator, instead, it comes with a curved sponge which takes a while to get used to but delivers precision and control when used correctly.
When it comes to the formula, Essence have hit all the right buttons. This is exactly what a lip gloss should be – it’s shiny, pigmented, comfortable to wear and long lasting. It will wear off after eating or drinking, but tends to leave a nice stain behind so your lips don’t look completely bare.
If you’re someone who is sensitive to products that have fragrance, you would be pleased to know that while this does have a sweet, sugary scent, it isn’t overpowering or irritating. The scent doesn’t linger, and you barely notice it throughout the day.
This product does come with a con (singular noun FYI), and it may be a deal breaker for some. This lip gloss is slightly sticky, to the point where your hair will get caught on your lips if it happens to stray that way. Of course, with only one con, the good outweighs the bad and for $3.95, do we really have the right to complain?
