A man has been sentenced in relation to the death of Washington Redskins player Sean Taylor in November 2007.
A week after his home was burgled, Sean Taylor’s house was once again broken into. However, this time Taylor was present and was unfortunately shot in the leg during the early hours of November 26, 2007. He was mortally wounded and died in hospital the next day following an unsuccessful surgery.
Jason Mitchell, the man believed to have organised the burglary of Taylors house, was convicted by a Miami jury of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Jason was sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday for first-degree murder and an additional 40 years for armed robbery.
The man who is believed to have fired the shot that killed Taylor, Eric Rivera Jr, was convicted of second-degree murder and armed burglary and was sentenced to 57 years in prison back in January, 2014.
