James Kelly has signed with the Essendon Bombers for another year. Finishing second in the Bombers best-and-fairest this year, Kelly’s manager Tom Petroro of Stride Sports Management holds high hopes that his agent will be signed as a delisted free agent, ”It is our understanding that the club is really keen for James to stay on and play,” Mr Petroro said on AFL Trade Radio.
“Although it’s not as easy as both parties agreeing to the deal, as the club has other players to sign on and will be keen to be active in the AFL Draft in November.
”James will have to be a delisted free agent, there’s still a bit to play out… I am reasonably confident that he will be playing next year,” Mr Petroro explained.
After playing at Geelong for 13 seasons, Kelly has played 20 games for Essendon and if he continues on as expected, he will play his 300th AFL match in round seven next year. – Paul Robinson
