From a self-confessed gadget fiend – we’ve found some gadgets from 2014 that you need, or at least should know about (well.. most of them).
Here’s what’s new in…
Trackdot to track luggage
The Trakdot is designed so you never lose your luggage again. A compact unit with a GSM chip can be tucked into your bag and you are able to track its location using your computer or smart phone! It’s genius, although I’m not sure knowing my bag is in the wrong country would necessarily help me out…
For the Coffee obsessed
Hand powered espresso maker
Blackout? Camping? No problem – with the hand powered espresso maker you are able to enjoy quality coffee without electricity.
Calorie Counting Cups
Vessyl is a smart cup that allows you to track your liquid intake- right down to brand and calories. You can then develop a custom hydration system so you can fully take control of your liquid life. It can track any liquid in your cup and directly goes to your smart phone so you can keep up to date with your hydration.
Do you feel that social media’s GIFs aren’t really meeting your needs? Now you can make your own! OTTO is a customisable camera with the ability to make GIFs with the crank on top. Endless hours of fun are to be had.
Sly iPhone camera
We’ve all been there. Trying to take a picture of something we really shouldn’t be taking a picture of or, worse still, using your camera phone to spy on a hottie. The Peek-I allows you to take pictures discreetly through its use of mirrors and the iPhone’s camera. Let the spying begin!
Have you ever urgently needed to know how many eggs are left in your fridge and how fresh they are? Well now, thanks to the Egg Minder, through the use of a smart egg tray you can moniter how many eggs you have left and whether they are off or not. Okay, so maybe not an urgent need, but still a pretty cool invention! Egg-citing?
The Snore Activated Nudging Pillow
Designed by Hammacher Schlemmer this pillow is set to solve relationship sleep issues everywhere. The pillow is able to detect snoring via an integrated microphone and automatically inflates 3 inches- the precise amount of movement needed to rouse a sleeper into altering head or body position. It advertises itself as “spouse free snore prevention”!
For those uncomfortable with the intrusion of the plastic mouthpiece while snorkelling, thanks to the futuristic snorkel you needn’t worry! The Easybreathing Snorkel Mask allows you to “see and breath as easily as you would on land”. You look ridiculous so ease up on underwater selfies, but at least you get to experience under the sea as it was meant to be! Watch the demo here.
Phone charger case
The Mophie space pack is a phone case which doubles as a phone charger and, while heavy, means you never have to carry around a cord again. It has developed further since its implication and now has a hard drive as part of the case as well, giving you an extra 64GB of storage.
