Westgate Entertainment has filed a $A3.65 million lawsuit against rapper Chris Brown after the musician was denied entry into Australia on “character grounds”.
Westgate’s lawyers claim their client agreed to invest more than $2.6 million for the tour, with an additional $1 million being advanced to the promoter as a loan. It was agreed Brown would repay the investment, totalling $3.6 million, in full.
Brown was refused entry by the Department of Immigration because of his history of domestic violence dating back to 2009 with former partner and fellow superstar Rihanna. Brown’s One Hell of a Nite tour was cancelled last December, one week before he was due to perform in several Australian states.
