Bringing music to sick kids is their mission.
A group of six musicians are planning on putting smiles on the faces of children through the Cross My Heart Project.
Free concerts will take place at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick and Monash Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, in order to put a smile back on sick kids faces through “the magic of music.”
The group “crosses their hearts” to deliver free concert entertainment that will only improve the outcomes for these children and make their immediate lives that little bit better.
Early in the project the group decided that there would be no compromises or shortcuts.
The project’s success heavily relies on the generosity of people, with ongoing costs of PA & sound engineer hire, interment upkeep, treacle and accommodation.
Therefore in order for the project to continue the group needs ongoing donations from charitable affiliates, but for now they just need funding to ‘get of the ground’ and create these relationships.
The group says your donation will be rewarded, although the greatest reward would be to know you are putting a smile on a sick child’s face.
As seen in a previous article by Heba Dandachi:
Psychologist Wajma Ebrahimi explains how music actually affects your brain.
“Research shows that music has a neural response on the brain,” Wajma told the Newsroom. “Negative feelings create an uncomfortable mood on the brain and listening to music with certain rhythms and heavy beats, help release endorphins. The level of Serotonin then increases, creating a positive energy that resonates in your brain, in synchronisation with the music.”
The funds raised through Pozible is just the beginning of the groups mission to bring happiness to sick kids.
The group are looking to launch “Cross My Heart” at the “Celebrate Life Ball” in the Grand Hyatt, Melbourne on June 13, 2014. At the event the group of musicians believe they will have the chance to network with other charities, foundations and benefactors.
The cost to make this dream a reality for the small community organisation is AU$10,000 and this is where they need your help. They realise it is a high price, however all proceeds will go towards the Celebrate Life Foundation (www.celebratelifefoundation.com.au) which will then be distributed to both The Sydney Children’s Hosptial in Randwick and Monash Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
