The bans against head coach Shane Flanagan and Trent Elkin from the Cronulla club will stand.
NRL Chief executive Dave Smith has announced that the NRL will stand with their bans against two Cronulla staff members.
In a press conference on Tuesday it was announced the $1m fine for the club will have $400,000 of it suspended. The NRL is expected to work with the Sharks to set out a payment plan agreement.
“People who love Cronulla are a strong supporter group and I would encourage them to get behind the club going forward,” Smith said.
Elkin had his NRL registration cancelled for his role in the supplements scandal in 2011. Flanagan will be suspended from his coaching duties but will still be able to attend games; however, he is not allowed to have any direct involvement with the club.
“The NRL will not accept any practices that will put our players at risk,” Smith said.
