The second Ashes Test is shaping up to be a battle royal when Australia take the field at Lord’s tonight.
There is no love lost between the teams. James Anderson recently said Clarke’s men would not share an end-of-match drink with the England team.
Some key changes are expected in the Australian line up. Mitchell Marsh is likely to replace Shane Watson, whose departure has been tipped since his poor First Test performance. With Brad Haddin out, Peter Nevill makes his debut as wicketkeeper. His father Jeff has flown from Melbourne to watch his son play.
“It’s a tremendous honour and privilege to play for your country and to wear the illustrious baggy green … it’s the things dreams are made of really,” Peter Nevill said.
Australia’s pace attack is spearheaded by Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood. Starc and Hazelwood were Australia’s leading wicket-takers in the first test at Cardiff. Peter Siddle is on standby in case Starc’s ankle injury forces him out.
The England team remains unchanged after its victory in the first Test. The game starts at 8pm AEST.
