Australian Diamonds and Melbourne Vixens midcourter Madi Robinson has been ruled out of the 2015 netball World Championships after rupturing her right ACL.
The 27-year-old will be sidelined for the remainder of the year, ruling her out of the 2015 World Championships which begins in August. She sustained the injury late in the fourth quarter against the West Coast Fever in Perth on Monday.
“We’re absolutely gutted for Madi and her welfare is our only priority at the moment,” Netball Australia’s head of high performance, Andrew Collins, said.
“Our medical and wellbeing staff are working closely with the Melbourne Vixens to ensure that Madi is receiving the necessary support during this very difficult time as she comes to grips with the devastating news.
“Madi is a highly respected individual both on and off the court so we know that many will join us in wishing her a speedy recovery.”
The Victorian native is the reigning player of the year. “I’m remaining really positive and strong at the moment,” Robinson said. “I know what I have to do with my recovery and having the support of my husband, family, teammates and the public will help me push through my rehab and help me get back stronger than ever.”
