Western Sydney Wanderers v Melbourne City
Melbourne City will definitely feel that they’ve dropped two points as they succumbed to a 1-all draw against the Western Sydney Wanderers. John Van’t Schip’s men took the lead in the 54th minute thanks to Tim Cahill’s cool tap-in that silenced the home crowd. City was able to hold on until stoppage when Lachlan Scott’s deflected shot came off Neil Kilkenny and gave the Wanderers a point.
Newcastle Jets v Central Coast Mariners
Newcastle Jets and the Central Coast Mariners shared the spoils in a pulsating F3 Derby with a 1-all draw. Numerous chances went by for both sides but it the first point wasn’t until the 41st minute when Jake McGing’s diving header found the back of the net. The Jets equalised in the 63rd minute when Morten Nordstrand calmly slotted his one-on-one past Mariners keeper Paul Izzo. The draw leaves both sides tied on points in the bottom six. – Ben Owusu
