The 2016 ARIAs has something for everyone, with a mix of young and old performers announced in the line-up for this year’s awards.
From “Farnsy” to Flume, the awards will showcase performers representing a range of styles from the three decades of music since their inception in 1986.
Troye Sivan will star alongside the likes of Jimmy Barnes and Crowded House next Wednesday at the Australian music industry’s night of nights. Other artists to take to the stage include Jessica Mauboy, The Veronicas, ILLY, and Violent Soho.
Electronic producer and musician Flume is up for 11 awards, including Album of the Year and Best Male Artist, and could possibly be joined on stage by Swedish singer Tove Lo or Canadian artist Kai, who both have a hit single with him and will be at the event. Hip hop artist Illy is up for six awards including Best Male Artist and Sia has picked up five nominations.
John Farnham is predicted to perform “You’re the Voice”, which has become a virtual Australian anthem for oldies and young fans alike.
While it doesn’t look like Robbie Williams will be singing at the ARIAs this year, the cheeky UK singer-songwriter is sure to receive a warm reception on the red carpet.
Some of the awards up for grabs include the album of the year, best international artist, breakthrough artist, and song of the year.
The ARIAs will take place at the Star Casino in Sydney and will be broadcast on Channel Ten at 7:30pm on Wednesday, November 23.
